Theorists

In our music video we are going to use many of the media theorists. As media changes so does all these theories however we have many theories which relate to our chosen song such as Voyeurism this is when it seems to be filmed through a 'males perception' of how life should be objectifying women in many different ways, this satisfys the sexual male mind. This will be shown in our video as we are using fragmented body parts such as the mouth, legs and eyes. Using shots such as close ups and mid shots allow us to see a specific object, in this case being women which falls into the conventions of Voyeurism. The use of high heels and make up has very strong sexual connotations and is therefore part of the voyeurist idea. Our video uses voyeurism in scenes when the female models are walking up and down the catwalk wearing heels, focusing on certain parts of their body creating an ideal image typical of the genre our music video is. We also are including a scene when models are getting ready and our old model is crying it is into a mirror, which is a typical convention of voyeurism. Voyeurism is appropriate for our genre, as found in our research and we discovered that sexually objectifying women is a key convention of the R&B and hip hop genre.

The video is also narrative and performance, the non linear narrative aspect encourages multiple viewings because it interests the audience and makes them want to watch it again to realise what it is really about, by using the correct mis-en-scene we will create authencity of storyline making it believable and appropriate to the song. The performance aspect of the video makes the artist look credible and like they have genuine talent. Our video used slight intertextuality as the narrative is inspired by the film Black Swan, but there is no straight links to other media texts.
